Custom Software Engineer

Overview

Custom Software Engineer role on Accenture's Global Database Services team, responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of enterprise database platforms supporting business and logistics operations worldwide.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise database environments in accordance with business requirements and enterprise standards.
• Develop database architectures that support high availability, scalability, performance, and security requirements.
• Partner with software vendors, solution architects, and internal stakeholders to define and implement standardized database solutions.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives including platform modernization, cloud transformation, and database standardization projects.
• Administer and support enterprise databases across development, test, and production environments.
• Monitor database health and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize operational risks.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation after completing onboarding and knowledge transfer activities.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance and resource utilization.
• Perform capacity planning to support business growth and increasing transaction volumes.
• Identify and resolve database and application performance bottlenecks.
• Design, implement, and maintain high-availability solutions utilizing appropriate replication and standby database technologies.
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Conduct backup validation and recovery testing to ensure business continuity requirements are met.
• Support disaster recovery planning and execution activities.
• Implement and maintain database security standards, controls, and best practices.
• Manage user access, authentication, authorization, and auditing requirements.
• Ensure compliance with corporate security policies and regulatory requirements.
• Drive automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and service quality.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting languages and configuration management tools.
• Provide technical guidance to development teams on database architecture, design, performance, and best practices.
• Serve as the primary database expert within the organization.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, standards, and service descriptions.
• Promote knowledge sharing and mentor team members on database technologies and best practices.
• Manage and process incidents, service requests, and problems using enterprise IT service management (ITSM) tools, in accordance with defined SLAs and operational procedures.

What you'll need

• 15 years full time education.
• Minimum 3 year(s) of experience is required.
• Must have skill: Oracle Applications DBA.
• Several years of hands-on experience administering databases in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience in database design, implementation, administration, and performance optimization.
• Experience supporting business-critical applications and highly available database platforms.
• Experience working in global and cross-functional organizations.
• Experience with one or more of the following is required: Oracle (Single, Data Guard, Standby), Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Linux/Unix Administration or Microsoft Windows Server.
• Experience with Ansible.
• Experience with programming and scripting languages: Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, Shell/Bash.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
