Database Engineer II

Overview

The Database Engineer II supports and optimizes Tekion's database environments, developing, maintaining and scaling database solutions that ensure performance, availability and security.

What you'll do

• Design and implement database solutions, including schema changes, stored procedures and indexing strategies.
• Perform performance tuning, query optimization and diagnostics to resolve system bottlenecks.
• Monitor and manage database health, backups and failover procedures across environments.
• Automate recurring maintenance and data processing tasks using SQL and scripting tools.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps and product teams to align database design with application needs.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation and the enforcement of best practices.
• Support incident response and root cause analysis for database-related issues.

What you'll need

• 4–6 years of experience in database engineering or administration.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Proficiency in SQL, scripting (e.g., Python, Bash), and data management tools.
• Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring and recovery strategies.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across engineering and infrastructure teams.
