Data Engineer

Overview

Data Engineer role in Cisco’s Commerce Intelligence Data & Analytics team, focused on building an AI-ready data foundation for commerce and business operations.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns.
• Integrate and transform data from non-ERP sources into an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and publish to Snowflake Data Cloud.
• Build analytics-ready data models using dbt with testing and CI/CD integration.
• Design and implement a reusable semantic layer for AI, agentic solutions, and dashboards.
• Use Snowflake Cortex to integrate AI/LLM capabilities into data pipelines.
• Enforce data quality standards, observability, lineage, governance, and access control.

What you'll need

• 5+ years progressive experience in data engineering.
• 2+ years hands-on experience developing AI and agentic solutions on platforms like Snowflake, AWS, or GCP.
• Deep expertise with the Snowflake Data Cloud, including architecture, security model, and operational best practices.
• Strong proficiency with dbt for designing, developing, and maintaining data models with automated testing and CI/CD integration.
• Advanced SQL skills and practical working knowledge of Python for data manipulation and automation.
• 5+ years experience with BI/reporting tools such as Sigma or Power BI.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience.
