Data Quality Analyst

Overview

Data Quality Analyst role within Bank of America's Global Risk Management (GRM) data team, working with data stewards, data owners and technology teams to assess data, processes and technology, support strategic data initiatives and remediate deficiencies.

What you'll do

• Consult with data stewards, process owners, subject matter experts, technical experts, end users and other stakeholders to gather information about the current and target state business process, data attributes and data sources, control features, and interfaces with other systems.
• Document and provide definitions for processes and procedures, data models, data quality controls, data lineage, and data dictionaries using industry standard methods including business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, diagrams, and flow charts.
• Analyze information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, segment high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding.
• Assess and identify deficiencies against internal policies and standards or industry best practices, providing formal recommendations and requirements to remediate.
• Collaborate and partner with technology teams, architects, and other key stakeholders to drive solutions which provide ongoing operational excellence and resiliency to metadata and control environment challenges.
• Review and provide input to technical solution designs from a business point of view and recommend alternatives.
• Communicate plans, progress and risks appropriately to stakeholders and sponsors.
• Demonstrate knowledge of data solutions, data platforms, data management and governance practices and standards.
• Use architecture tools to create design artifacts, including data models and architecture, API design and data solutions architecture.
• Lead strategy and architecture for one or more data management products such as Data Catalog, Data Lineage, Data Feeds Registry, Data Quality and related data services.
• Design data products to provide high quality data for quantitative modeling solutions for GRM.
• Perform regular assessments of the health and maturity of data and information capabilities for the GRM domain.
• Evangelize and design new data solutions and capabilities to support risk lines of business.
• Participate in efforts to define the mission, goals, critical success factors, principles, and procedures for data strategy and information architecture.
• Participate in building business cases required to secure approval and funding for data and analytical efforts.
• Understand end-to-end change impact by managing linkages from information capabilities to technical assets (operational and analytical).
• Maintain integrated logical data models and data flows to understand data and its interdependencies regardless of usage pattern.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science or analytics and 6+ years of experience in data platform/solutions and data management architecture; or Master's degree and 5+ years of experience.
• Strong experience driving the design and development of data solutions, data management and governance products, and data and reporting platforms.
• Expertise in architecting complex design patterns, microservices, API design, data warehouses and data lakes, and data pipelines.
• Ability to drive data strategy and deep understanding of industry paradigms such as data mesh, data contracts, and integration fabric.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data stores and big data environments.
• Hands-on expertise with data technologies and computing frameworks including, but not limited to, Python, Spark, Airflow, JavaScript and SQL.
• Ability to research new data technologies, architect novel data solutions for business problems, and prove design approach through hands-on prototyping.
• Experience with data modeling for complex data pipelines, data lakes and data platforms.
• Strong experience with a data management platform such as Collibra, or understanding of open-source frameworks such as Apache Atlas, Amundsen, DataHub or Marquez.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including visualizations, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of data storage layers and formats such as Apache Iceberg, Hudi, Delta Lake, as well as Parquet, JSON and Avro.
• Experience with graph processing and storage technologies such as knowledge graphs or property graphs, with working knowledge of at least one graph store such as TigerGraph.
• Exposure to linked data, open data, and GenAI-based data solutions.
