Data Quality & Governance Engineer

Overview

TEGNA is seeking a Data Quality & Governance Engineer to ensure accurate, consistent, and trustworthy data across its consumer data platform.

What you'll do

• Act as the subject matter expert for the Amplitude product analytics platform, driving adoption and ensuring data integrity.
• Partner with Product and Marketing to define KPIs and develop dashboards for user engagement, feature adoption, and campaign performance.
• Design and implement automated data quality testing and validation frameworks within ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g., dbt tests, Great Expectations).
• Use SQL and GraphQL to analyze data and identify root causes of data discrepancies and inconsistencies.
• Own and manage the end-to-end data quality assurance framework, including investigation, triage, and resolution of data issues.
• Collaborate with source system owners and analysts to define, document, and enforce data standards and governance practices.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience in data quality, data governance, or a related data engineering role.
• Expert-level SQL skills for data profiling, validation, and analysis.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data modeling concepts.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a strong commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
