Data Scientist - Director - Data & Analytics Engineering

Overview

Director-level individual contributor responsible for developing, evaluating, and monitoring statistical and machine learning models that identify, assess, and mitigate fraud risk.

What you'll do

• Execute end-to-end model development assignments.
• Develop and evaluate models for imbalanced, non-stationary, and adversarial environments.
• Apply statistical and mathematical principles to model selection and validation.
• Monitor deployed models and diagnose performance degradation.
• Assess emerging fraud patterns and recommend model recalibration, redevelopment, threshold changes, or retirement.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior Data Scientists and Data Engineers.

What you'll need

• 6+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, statistical modeling, or quantitative analytics.
• Knowledge of statistical inference, probability, sampling, hypothesis testing, regularization, optimization, and model diagnostics.
• Experience with exploratory data analysis, analytical dataset construction, and feature engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, or PySpark.
• Ability to design valid training, validation, and testing approaches.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience developing fraud detection or financial crime models.
• Experience analyzing high-volume financial services data.
• Knowledge of fraud typologies, risk indicators, and banking or Wealth Management security issues.
• Experience with regulated model risk management and governance requirements.
• Experience with Tableau or similar visualization and reporting tools.
