Data Scientist, GovTech Anti Scam Products (GASP)

Overview

Own the full ML lifecycle for GovTech’s Anti Scam Products (GASP) team, helping detect, disrupt, and deter scammers at scale.

What you'll do

• Scope scam problems with stakeholders to decide what data and techniques are needed.
• Develop multiple machine learning models, measure effectiveness, and deploy the best approach.
• Build and operate production systems independently with light engineering support.
• Present findings, solicit feedback, and iterate on analysis with stakeholders while tracking timelines.
• Identify projects that improve public good and design novel systems within constraints.
• Prototype rapidly and advocate/explain technical ideas to other government agencies.

What you'll need

• Willingness to understand the fraud/scam domain.
• Effective and critical use of LLMs, leveraging AI tools while judging output quality.
• Basic statistical data analytics (e.g., A/B test significance, rolling window analysis, confounder analysis).
• Experience with data wrangling, model development (classification/regression/outlier detection), and deployment.
• Foundational coding experience in Python, including Git and package management/venv.

Nice to have

• Experience in Spark.
• Experience in agentic frameworks (Langgraph).
• Experience in Neo4j or graph databases.
• Experience in on-device ML.
• Experience in stakeholder management.
