Anthropic Fellows Program, AI Safety & Security

Overview

Anthropic Fellows (AI Safety & Security) is a 4-month full-time research program with mentorship, funding, and the goal of producing public research output.

What you'll do

• Conduct full-time empirical research aligned with Anthropic’s AI safety priorities.
• Use external infrastructure (e.g., open-source models and public APIs) for the project.
• Work toward producing a public output such as a paper submission.
• Engage in weekly mentorship from Anthropic researchers.
• Participate in project selection and mentor matching.

What you'll need

• Be fluent in Python programming.
• Be available to work full-time on the Fellows program.
• Have work authorization in the US, UK, or Canada and be located in that country during the program.
• Have a strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics.

Details

• Start date expected for the next cohort is January 2027 (rolling applications accepted).
• Workspace options include Berkeley, California or London, UK, with openness to remote fellows in the US/UK/Canada.
• Visa sponsorship is not currently available for fellows.
• Interview process includes application/reference check, technical assessments & interviews, and a research discussion.
