Database Administrator

Overview

Design, implement and maintain databases, install database management systems (DBMS), and develop procedures for day-to-day maintenance and problem resolution. This is an SME role within a team, with responsibility for team decisions and mentoring junior members.

What you'll do

• Design, implement and maintain databases.
• Install database management systems (DBMS).
• Develop procedures for day-to-day maintenance and problem resolution.
• Act as an SME, collaborate with and manage the team, and be responsible for team decisions.
• Engage with multiple teams and contribute to key decisions.
• Provide solutions to problems for the immediate team and across multiple teams.
• Oversee the implementation of best practices for database security and data integrity.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to optimize database performance and scalability.
• Mentor junior team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.

What you'll need

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Apache Cassandra.
• 15 years full time education.
• Proficiency in Apache Cassandra.
• Experience in database installation, configuration, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery techniques.
• Ability to monitor database performance and tune systems for optimal efficiency.
• Familiarity with scripting and automation to streamline database operations.
• Understanding of data replication and clustering concepts within distributed databases.
