Specialist, SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) and Automation Engineer

Overview

Specialist role supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases in on-prem and cloud environments, focused on automating provisioning, patching and gold image releases.

What you'll do

• Develop automation for provisioning, patching and gold image releases of various SQL Server Database versions using Ansible Automation Platform.
• Follow standard approaches and established design patterns to create automation.
• Apply agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.
• Carry out and improve system software development and maintenance tasks by updating the product design to automate routine tasks using standard tools and software development practices.
• Participate in product planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with product goals.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science or any Technology.
• 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, Ansible.
• Primary skills: Microsoft SQL Server Database and Tools, Ansible Automation Platform, YAML, PowerShell scripting.
• Secondary skills: Windows Operating System, Active Directory, GitHub, Always on Availability Groups (AAG).
• Experience with database backup solutions (Commvault, Cohesity).
• Familiarity with cloud (AWS, Azure) platforms.
• Skills in Ansible scripting, including complex Ansible roles.
• Familiarity with IT security practices and compliance.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Demonstrated ability to think independently and do basic troubleshooting without direction.
• Product and customer-centric approach.
• A self-starter who will work with stakeholders and take ownership of issues.
