Overview

Senior Data Engineer to design, build and optimize data pipelines and backend services, with a focus on Java, API development, MongoDB and cloud infrastructure, working with onshore stakeholders.

What you'll do

• Design and implement robust, scalable data pipelines and backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Lead the design of MongoDB schemas and data modeling, optimize complex queries, and manage indexing strategies for high availability and low latency.
• Develop and maintain secure, high-performance RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless data exchange between internal systems and external partners.
• Deploy and manage data workloads on cloud platforms (e.g., IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP), leveraging managed services for compute and storage.
• Conduct deep-dive analysis of system bottlenecks and implement performance optimizations across the data stack.
• Perform rigorous code reviews and implement automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito) to maintain high software quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with IT teams and business teams.
• Work closely with Dev teams and BAs to resolve technical and business issues and understand project objectives.
• Communicate work and delivery status effectively and adhere to delivery timelines.
• Adapt to new technology, learn, and implement it within the project.
• Integrate into a French-Indian agile extended team.

What you'll need

• 6-8 years of experience in the Data Engineering field, with working experience in MongoDB, API integration and cloud infrastructure.
• Bachelor's Degree in IT, a computer-related field, or equivalent experience.
• Expert proficiency in Java and experience with modern frameworks (Spring Boot).
• Advanced knowledge of MongoDB (Aggregation framework, Sharding, Replication, and Atlas).
• Mastery of REST API design principles, OAuth2, and API Gateway management.
• Proven experience with cloud environments.
• Proficiency with Git, Maven/Gradle, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Good knowledge and experience of writing complex SQL queries.
• Proficient analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Payments and/or Card Payments.
• Knowledge of banking products.
