Design Engineer - Electrical

Overview

Senior individual contributor accountable for end-to-end electrical design and development of large diesel genset packages (>2 MW).

What you'll do

• Lead electrical genset package design and development from concept selection through detailed design.
• Ensure compliance with Caterpillar engineering standards and regional regulations.
• Manage interfaces across global cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers for system integration.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, durability, cost effectiveness, and assembly ease.
• Drive creation of designs/models, analytical work, drawing packages, design guides, and engineering documents.
• Conduct design reviews for enclosures, main systems, components, and sub-systems and update designs for customer/spec changes.
• Support global manufacturing facilities by answering electrical design queries and resolving quality issues.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering with 8-10 years relevant experience, or Master’s with 6-8 years, or doctorate.
• Experience required includes preparing concept, design, development, and feasibility studies for complex engineering projects.
• Must use ePlan, WSCAD, Creo, Creo Schematic, AutoCAD design tools, and Teamcenter.
• Sound knowledge of electrical regulation and standards.
• Knowledge of electrical designs: schematics, harnesses, control panels, switchgear layouts, and BOM.
• Knowledge of Generator, Control Systems, Power Systems, AC/DC Distribution, Alternators, Breakers (preferred).
