Design Engineer - Mechanical

Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer role focused on mechanical components and assemblies for PEM Electrolyzer stacks.

What you'll do

• Design and develop stack mechanical components including bipolar/end plates, gaskets/seals, current collectors, tie-rods/tension assemblies, and manifolding.
• Create and maintain CAD models and detailed drawings with GD&T, tolerance dimensioning, and third-angle projection per ASME standards.
• Perform engineering analyses such as tolerance stack-up, structural/stiffness calculations, sealing calculations, and pressure drop calculations.
• Lead or contribute to DFMEA studies for design changes and define failure mitigations.
• Develop and validate stack assembly processes including torquing/compression strategies and pressure distribution verification.
• Author component specifications and engineering documentation such as drawings, BOMs, ECNs, and DFMEA records.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 3-5 years of hands-on mechanical design and product development experience across the product lifecycle.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and 2D drawing creation with GD&T and tolerancing.
• Practical experience with DFMEA methodology and root-cause/failure analysis.
• Hands-on component design experience for sheetmetal, plastic parts, and machined components plus manufacturing processes.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and execute design verification activities.
