Mechanical Design Engineer – Battery Module

Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer focused on mechanical design and simulation of battery modules, from concept through prototyping, validation, certification, and production release.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with machine and application teams to finalize customer requirements and validation needs.
• Design battery module architecture and detailed mechanical systems (structure, cell retention/compression, mounting, busbar supports, insulation, cold plates, cooling).
• Integrate CMUs, sensing components, electrical interconnects, busbars, and HV/LV harness interfaces into the mechanical architecture.
• Account for dimensional variation, swelling, compression, thermal expansion, and electrical clearance/creepage.
• Create production-ready 3D models, assemblies, BOMs, material specs, and mechanical interface requirements.
• Run structural/thermal/thermo-mechanical simulations and correlate results with test data.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in battery modules/packs, energy storage, power electronics, or electromechanical product development.
• Strong fundamentals in structural design, engineering mechanics, strength of materials, joints, tolerances, heat transfer, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience developing mechanical products from concept through production release.
• Hands-on experience with structural/thermal/thermo-mechanical simulation.
• Working knowledge of battery module architecture, cooling systems, insulation, electrical isolation, clearance/creepage, and electromechanical integration.
