Overview
The Digital Software Engineer Senior Manager manages professional teams and departments while integrating subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. The role delivers software, leads talent and development, and oversees quality, planning, resources, performance and operational excellence.
What you'll do
- Build a network of talent inside and outside of the company.
- Create mechanisms to onboard new talent and mentor others.
- Coach and give feedback to direct reports to develop talent and support career development.
- Apply performance standards and identify resource needs to balance team goals against department goals and employee development.
- Describe the strategic importance of vision and articulate expectations around leadership behavior, including role-model behavior that exemplifies Citi’s leadership principles.
- Design, implement and deploy software components and solve difficult problems.
- Work independently and with the team to deliver software successfully.
- Deliver secure, testable, maintainable, low-defect and efficient work that incorporates best practices.
- Provide useful and rapid code reviews for changes submitted by others.
- Identify operational problems, propose solutions and take on projects that improve the team’s software.
- Improve the team’s development and testing processes.
- Build working relationships with teammates and peers working on related software.
- Recognize discordant views and participate in constructive dialogue to resolve them.
- Train new teammates on customers, the team’s software, its construction, testing, operation and broader context.
- Assess risk in business decisions, safeguard the firm, clients and assets, drive compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhere to policy, apply sound ethical judgment, escalate and report control issues transparently, supervise others and create accountability.
What you'll need
- 6-10 years of relevant experience in an Apps Development role or senior-level experience in an Enterprise Architecture role.
- Subject matter expertise in one or more areas.
- Expertise in technology, including broader patterns and techniques as they apply to Citi’s internal and external cloud platforms: AWS, PCF and Akamai.
- Advanced knowledge of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems and networking.
- Ability to lead, architect and drive broader adoption forward.
- Relevant technology and financial industry skills, including AWS PWS.
- Understanding of all aspects of NGA technology, including innovative approaches and new opportunities.
- Knowledge of automating code quality, code performance, unit testing and build processing in CI/CD.
- Bachelor’s/University degree.
