Director of Engineering - MetaDefender Managed File Transfer

Overview

Lead engineering for MetaDefender Managed File Transfer, owning architecture, delivery, quality, security, and distributed engineering teams across multiple deployment environments. The role is hands-on and focused on AI-native software development.

What you'll do

• Lead AI-assisted specification, coding, testing, review, and deployment workflows.
• Set architecture patterns and write or review critical production code.
• Own roadmap execution, sequencing, technical risk, quality, security, and releases.
• Recruit, develop, and retain engineering teams and leads across multiple countries.
• Establish performance expectations and manage team performance.
• Improve CI/CD, incident response, operational maturity, and engineering velocity.
• Partner with Product Management, Design, and security leaders on delivery decisions.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams, including managers or leads.
• Experience running a full agentic, AI-powered SDLC in B2B and high-security enterprise environments.
• Experience launching a product from specification to release through an AI-assisted lifecycle.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and modern architecture knowledge.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems, databases, cloud services, and CI/CD systems.
• Experience leading distributed teams across countries and time zones.

Nice to have

• Managed file transfer, secure content delivery, data security, or critical infrastructure experience.
• .NET Core or C# experience.
• Cloud-native, Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS, Azure, or GCP experience.
• Experience authoring AI context files and using AI agents in CI/CD pipelines.
• International team and high-throughput systems experience.

• Remote role; preference for the UK, USA, or a location near an OPSWAT-operated location.
• Reports to the VP, Products.
• Distributed team across Romania, Vietnam, and Hungary.
