Overview
Design and develop LV/MV Drives products, including product design and requisition engineering for electrical systems.
What you'll do
- Understand product and project specifications and convert specifications into electrical schematics.
- Specify, size, select and analyze electrical components.
- Prepare SLDs, schematics, GAs, BOMs and reports.
- Prepare PLM and Bills of Material.
- Design and execute engineering work packages with focus on quality, costs, schedule and resources.
- Coordinate work packages within a team and with global stakeholders.
- Maintain ownership of all engineering work packages associated with specific projects.
- Collaborate with other GE PC businesses to understand GE Power Conversion technologies and apply them.
- Ensure projects are completed within schedule and budget.
- Design systems and equipment to meet reliability, testing standards, manufacturability, material and cost guidelines.
- Verify functional performance of prototype hardware under all specified operating conditions.
- Support manufacturing of equipment at factory or vendor facilities.
- Document functional test requirements and conduct tests according to applicable standards, including UL and IEC.
- Conduct project FATs.
- Coordinate continuously with the System Engineer and Program, Product and Project Managers on execution.
- Travel on short notice within the base country and overseas for short- or long-term assignments.
What you'll need
- Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed college or university.
- Minimum 5+ years in electrical design and study experience in the industry, marine, O&G or power sectors.
- Thorough understanding of global electrical codes, including IEC, UL, NEC and NFPA.
- Knowledge and application of international standards.
- Ability to adapt and multitask with project and application engineers.
- Analytical and innovative approach to problem solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn with passion.
- Ability to be self-motivated, creative and a team player, with ability to come up with unique solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to work with a multi-disciplined international team with good personal organization skills.
- Ability to work effectively within and between teams and as an individual.
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse and highly matrix environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours during the week, at weekends and holidays at critical times.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of electrical design tools such as AUTOCAD and E-Plan.
- PLM experience.
- Primavera experience.
