Engineer 1 - Embedded SW Quality Test

Overview

Engineer 1 supporting embedded software Verification & Validation for power-system protection, control, industrial communication, and R&D products. The role applies Python automation and AI-based workflows to communication testing, test analysis, and troubleshooting.

What you'll do

• Define V&V strategies, test plans, frameworks, coverage, and traceability.
• Design and execute system, integration, communication, functional, regression, interoperability, performance, robustness, and negative testing.
• Develop Python-based test frameworks, simulators, protocol tools, monitoring tools, and fault-injection utilities.
• Validate IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, T103, T101, TCP/IP, Ethernet, and serial communication.
• Analyze traces, packets, logs, event records, and test results to troubleshoot issues and identify root causes.
• Develop AI agents for test-scenario generation, workflow orchestration, log analysis, anomaly detection, and reporting.
• Maintain CI/CT-based automated V&V pipelines and improve testing methods and coverage.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of experience in communication testing, system V&V, embedded software or firmware testing, automation, or R&D engineering.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a listed engineering or computer science discipline.
• Strong Python programming skills for automation, protocol testing, analysis, and tool integration.
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication, power-system automation, protection, control, and embedded systems.
• Experience with protocol analysis, packet capture, message decoding, interoperability testing, and network diagnostics.
• Experience with AI/ML, Generative AI, LLMs, or Agentic AI applied to testing or engineering workflows.
• Knowledge of protection and control systems, IEC and ANSI standards, and relevant power-system equipment.

Nice to have

• Understanding of AI agent architecture, tool calling, RAG, APIs, and Python-based AI automation.
• Understanding of CT/VT calculations and protection relay settings.
• Experience with ABB, Siemens, SEL, or other major relay manufacturers.
