Engineer, AS

Overview

Engineer (Associate) on the cards team for Germany, responsible for designing, developing, implementing and supporting Java-based banking solutions across the bank's IT platform.

What you'll do

• Plan and develop engineering solutions to accomplish business goals.
• Build reliability and resiliency into solutions with appropriate testing and review throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Ensure maintainability and reusability of engineering solutions.
• Ensure solutions are well architected and can be integrated into the end-to-end business process flow.
• Review engineering plans and quality to drive re-use and improve engineering capability.
• Participate in industry forums to drive adoption of innovative technologies, tools and solutions in the Bank.
• Actively participate in the design and development of solutions aligned to business goals.
• Translate business and functional requirements into a technical solution design.
• Manage implementation jointly with vendors, support testing activities, and ensure handover into production and to L2 Support.
• Ensure solution designs are aligned to the technical platform modernization strategy.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert for L3 Support to maintain a stable and maintainable production environment.
• Actively take part in incident and request analysis and drive problem resolution.

What you'll need

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Java solution design and software development.
• Strong development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Practical knowledge of software design patterns and anti-patterns, particularly within Java and Spring Boot applications.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and consuming APIs and microservices.
• Proven experience integrating internal and external web services using SOAP, XML, REST, and JSON.
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with cloud development frameworks and platforms, including Spring Cloud.
• Practical experience configuring and deploying applications using OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Experience with DevOps and engineering tools, including Git, TeamCity, Maven, and Sonar.
• Knowledge and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, Acceptance Test Driven Development, Behavior Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pair working, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
• Practical and applied knowledge of design patterns (and anti-patterns) in Java in general and Java Spring Boot specifically.
• Familiarity with Agile team management tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Pro-active team player with good communication skills and good English language skills.
• Experience with Agile/SCRUM environment including agile tooling and methodology, together with knowledge of cards.
• Bachelor's degree from a college or university with a focus on IT or data evaluation and/or comparable professional experience.
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
