Engineer, Staff

Overview

Design, develop, create, modify, and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and specialized utility programs for products that meet customer needs. Collaborate with systems, hardware, architecture, test engineers, and other teams to design system-level software solutions and obtain information on performance requirements and interfaces.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, create, modify, and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and specialized utility programs.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, architecture, test engineers, and other teams to design system-level software solutions.
• Obtain information on performance requirements and interfaces.
• Develop embedded software, drivers, BSPs, and boot code.
• Perform low-level software and interface debugging.
• Apply secure coding practices at software design and implementation levels.

What you'll need

• 8+ years experience with programming languages such as C and C++, with exposure to Python.
• 5+ years development experience with programming languages such as C, C++, and Python.
• 5+ years professional work experience in embedded software, driver development, and operating systems such as Linux, Android, QNX, or any RTOS.
• 5+ years experience with low-level software, interfaces, and debugging.
• 5+ years experience with industry-standard software development tools, including HSW/HE debuggers, code revision systems such as GIT, Gerrit, and Perforce, IDEs, and build tools.
• Strong OS fundamentals.
• Experience in secure coding, software design, and implementation levels.
• Experience in BSP development.
• Experience with low-level device driver programming and boot code development.
• Familiarity with modern object-oriented design practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to be a team player.
• Ability to be self-motivated and self-driven.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience, or Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience, or PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 2+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python.

Nice to have

• Linux and kernel development.
• Experience with ARM architecture.
• Modern object-oriented design practices such as C++11/17.
• Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 7+ years of experience with Database Management Software.
• 7+ years of experience with API.
• 7+ years of work experience with Git, Perforce, or Source Code Management System.
