Engineer, VP

Overview

Lead Engineer (VP) in the Technology team at Deutsche Bank, Pune, India, designing, developing and leading the delivery of application code and technical solutions for Trade Finance feature teams across On-prem and Google Cloud environments.

What you'll do

• Partner with business and technology managers to create designs, solutions and strongly engineered applications.
• Architect, design, develop application code, implement technical solutions and configure applications in On-prem and Google Cloud environments.
• Actively participate in architecture design and the application development lifecycle.
• Investigate issues (bugs/performance), propose solutions, fix software defects/bugs, and measure and analyse code for quality.
• Promote re-usability of existing components and contribute to the creation of frameworks.
• Lead a team of engineers and create high performing teams; assist and guide junior members.
• Verify developed source code via reviews (4-eyes principle) and resolve review findings.
• Integrate software components following the group's integration strategy and verify them through unit and integrated software testing.
• Ensure code changes are tracked through the change management process as Change Items (CIs) and that development is scheduled and approved.
• Provide release deployments on non-Production Management controlled environments; capture build and deployment notes and develop Software Product Deployment & Operating Instructions.
• Manage maintenance of applications and perform technical change requests scheduled per Release Management processes.
• Collaborate with Functional Analysts and QA to complete work as required; review and mentor other developers.
• Provide Level 3 support and contribute to root cause/problem analysis and solution brainstorming.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective meetings.
• Create required project documentation and recommend changes to improve Java application processes and performance.
• Maintain hygiene, Risk and Control and Stability at the core of every delivery; lead by example with client centricity at the core.

What you'll need

• 18+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on technologist with expertise in Java based technologies, Spring, Microservices architecture and CI/CD pipeline.
• Oracle SQL.
• Demonstrably solid software engineering skills.
• Ability to solve business problems with an acute engineering mindset.
• Strong analytical and design skills.
• Proficient communication, negotiation, networking and influencing skills.
• Proficient English language skills (written/verbal).
• Ability to work in virtual teams and in matrixed organizations.
• Keeps pace with technical innovation.
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and optimise workflows, applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
• Bachelor's degree.

• UI technologies: ReactJS.
• Java and J2EE technologies: Spring MVC, JMS, Spring Batch, Oracle, Unix Command, CI/CD, GIT/SVN.
• Unit test frameworks such as JUnit/Mockito.
• Code quality tools such as Sonar Qube/Emma code coverage.
• Build tools such as Ant, Maven and Gradle.
• CI/CD with Jenkins and TeamCity.
• Performance monitoring tools such as Java Heap Analyzer, Visual JVM and JMX Console.
• Microservices: Spring Boot, Spring Cloud Kubernetes, API Gateway, SSL, OAuth, JWT, Spring JPA, Kafka.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience of Microservices architecture, microservices development and cloud technologies.
• Experience understanding enterprise data models and documenting data attribute mapping and interface control requirements.
• Knowledge of the Trade Finance domain.
• Sponsorship for industry relevant certifications and updated relevant skill certification.
