Engineering Lead

Overview

Lead a team of software engineers to design, develop and support digital customer, sales and finance platforms and systems, working with business units and other IT teams to enable digital capabilities of Prudential Singapore.

What you'll do

• Translate business requirements into well-architected solutions leveraging new and existing technology stacks.
• Requirements and manage expectations.
• Provide oversight and governance on all Platform projects.
• Participate and facilitate technical discussions with the team and all other stakeholders.
• Define and evolve technical standards and processes for both the platform and the team.
• Develop data integration, migration and deployment strategies.
• Build relationships with and between key internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage and mentor junior team members.
• Deliver applications in accordance with relevant IT policies and procedures.
• Lead projects and resolve new or complex problems which may impact the application.
• Be responsible for the technical training and development of the team.
• Manage stakeholders, including influencing and persuading, as part of application delivery and support.

What you'll need

• Expertise in mobile app development platforms and ecosystems.
• Strong sense of and experience with SOLID principles.
• Strong culture of software testing (unit test, TDD, BDD).
• Exposure to front-end or full-stack software development.
• Experience with and affinity for Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP/eXtreme Programming).
• Complexity estimation and planning poker.
• Willingness to do the right thing and keep it simple.
• Strong background in design and development of React/Redux based systems.
• Strong understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning, engineering best practices, and deployment methodologies.
• Experience with TDD/BDD.
• Experience with JavaScript, React and React Native (RN).
• Experience with Java 8+.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, Vertex REST API and microservices development (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, etc.).
• Experience with RDBMS, SQL and NoSQL (Couchbase, MongoDB).
• Experience with Kafka, event based systems, functional reactive development and event streams.
• Experience with code version control tools (git, Bitbucket).
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AKS, OpenShift).
• Experience with DevOps (CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, K8s, etc.).
• Expert-level experience defining system architecture landscape, identifying gaps between current and desired end-states, and delivering comprehensive solutions that enable desired business outcomes.
• Strong background in design and development of mobile apps, or complete software product lifecycle exposure.
• Comfortable with Agile/iterative project management methodologies.

• More than 8 years of experience designing, developing and supporting applications.
• Experience leading or supervising an application development team.

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3rd party vendor management.
• Knowledge of Salesforce.
• Knowledge of data integration tools and experience integrating Salesforce with business systems (ETL, marketing automation, reporting, etc.).
