Engineering Manager, Backend (Gaming)

Overview

Engineering Manager, Backend (Gaming) for the WWE Champions team in Bangalore, leading teams that power live game configuration, blueprint/content delivery, game backend runtime, and live-ops tooling.

What you'll do

• Lead engineering teams overseeing systems for live game configuration, blueprint and content delivery.
• Drive delivery across internal content/configuration platform and live backend services for player-facing gameplay.
• Manage execution for systems covering blueprints, game configuration, live-ops content, server controls, A/B testing, and feature rollouts.
• Partner with product, design, analytics, QA, and operations to plan and deliver live-service features, events, and tooling improvements.
• Ensure operational rigor for backend services including reliability, performance, observability, incident response, and production readiness.
• Provide technical direction for a Python/Django ecosystem with Redis, DynamoDB, async job processing, and blueprint-driven runtime behavior.

What you'll need

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• 1+ years of people management or technical team leadership experience.
• Proven experience managing backend or platform teams supporting live-service or high-availability systems.
• Strong people-management skills including coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Backend engineering foundation ideally in Python and Django (or similarly large service-oriented web platforms).
• Hands-on familiarity with Redis and DynamoDB and related performance-sensitive data models.
