Engineering Manager, Cloud Engineering

Overview

Lead and develop LaunchDarkly’s Cloud Engineering team while owning cloud infrastructure operations, technical priorities, and a multi-quarter infrastructure insourcing program.

What you'll do

• Lead, coach, and develop a senior Cloud Engineering team.
• Own incident response, on-call health, service-level objectives, resilience, and disaster recovery.
• Deliver a multi-quarter infrastructure insourcing program from planning through completion.
• Guide priorities across AWS, networking, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, GitOps, datastores, and compliance infrastructure.
• Build automation and paved paths for safe, independent infrastructure use.
• Communicate roadmaps, risks, investment needs, and progress to stakeholders.
• Participate in hiring and team planning.

What you'll need

• 2+ years managing an infrastructure, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering team.
• Experience managing an on-call team.
• Experience owning incident response, on-call health, and service-level objectives for critical production systems.
• Experience leading a multi-quarter infrastructure migration or insourcing program.
• Technical fluency with AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Calm, thoughtful, and accountable leadership during incidents and change.

Nice to have

• Vendor negotiation or cloud cost management experience.
• FedRAMP or other compliance infrastructure experience.
• Large-scale datastore or OLAP systems experience.
• Experience growing a team through funded expansion.

Details

• Remote in the United States.
• Target annual pay ranges from $163,000 to $263,670 by geographic zone, plus a 10% bonus target.
