Engineering Manager, Tech Foundations

Overview

Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team building an AI-driven growth platform that powers Airbnb's supply expansion within the CRM Engineering team, and set the team's long-term technical vision and roadmap.

What you'll do

• Define and execute the technical strategy for trust and safety initiatives, aligned with Airbnb's long-term goals.
• Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and partner engineering teams to develop effective, scalable solutions.
• Lead end-to-end project execution, ensuring high-quality delivery across the software development lifecycle.
• Provide clear communication of project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and partners.
• Champion best practices for reliability, scalability, and incident response, and maintain operational readiness for critical systems.
• Stay current on trends in Trust & Safety and drive adoption of best practices and innovations within the team.
• Work with global counterparts to ensure the India team's initiatives are aligned with broader Trust & Safety goals.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Overall 10+ years of industry experience, including 2–5+ years in engineering management.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale, secure, and reliable systems.
• Strong experience in leading technical strategy and building scalable engineering, data, or machine learning systems.
• Proficiency in at least one major language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Ruby).
• Demonstrated ability to hire and retain top-tier engineering talent.
• Excellent communicator, capable of bridging technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience setting multi-year strategies and aligning diverse stakeholders.
• Background working in fast-paced, agile environments with cross-functional teams.
