Overview
Manage Solar Turbines India Engineering’s SPE - Standard Solutions India Engineering team in a high-visibility product sustaining organization. Serve as a people leader supporting product sustaining teams and helping team members succeed.
What you'll do
- Manage staffing, development, and performance management programs for engineering teams.
- Motivate and develop project and team leaders.
- Provide specialized engineering technical support and consulting services to various areas of the organization.
- Manage high-impact, short and long duration engineering initiatives and projects.
- Ensure achievement of the engineering plan and product quality.
- Drive programs to completion on time and within budget.
- Develop, refine, and communicate tactical plans for assigned responsibilities.
- Provide input for strategic plan development and link tactical plans to the overall strategic plan.
- Plan allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical objectives, and business objectives.
- Analyze decision options, assess alternatives, and predict potential impacts.
- Review others' writing or presentations and provide feedback and coaching.
- Advise others on technical solutions and engage subject matter resources to resolve technical issues.
- Mentor and coach others to improve technical competence and technical solutions.
- Respond proactively to market and competitive shifts and deliver customer value within targets.
- Manage interpersonal situations and workplace conflicts.
- Implement coaching and mentoring programs for employee development.
- Monitor employee morale and satisfaction, recognize contributions, and review employee performance.
- Collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds and build networks across countries and cultures.
- Plan, estimate, staff, organize, and monitor significant projects.
- Identify risks and vulnerabilities, create contingency plans, and conduct project reviews.
- Maintain communication among project participants and interested parties.
- Create project monitoring and control mechanisms.
What you'll need
- Minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
- At least 10-15 years direct experience in a gas turbine package design and turbomachinery technology.
- Basic knowledge of gas turbine operating cycles and engine design characteristics.
- General understanding of core engineering principles and design practices, including fundamental design, analysis, and drawing requirements.
- Broad understanding of component materials and processes, manufacturing technologies and methods, quality practices, and test validation procedures.
- Experience managing or leading technical staff through technical evaluations, project planning and execution, and practical design solutions.
- Ability to lead, coach, and teach.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills for operating in a cross-functional teaming environment.
- Ability to influence peers and partners to proactively drive product quality improvements, transactional workflows, and standard practices.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Capability to apply Lean workflow management principles and Agile planning methods.
- Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational, tactical, and strategic planning.
- Knowledge of decision-making processes and associated tools and techniques.
- Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques.
- Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods.
- Understanding of shifting market priorities and internal and external customer needs.
- Knowledge of processes involved in managing people and ability to lead successful teams.
- Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques with people from different countries and cultures.
- Knowledge of project management strategies and tactics.
