Engineering Manager, UI Platform

Overview

Engineering Manager for the UI Platform that powers Claude.ai’s shared infrastructure, APIs, tooling, and systems across web, mobile, desktop, and browser extensions.

What you'll do

• Lead and grow the UI Platform team and set technical direction for reliability, performance, and developer experience.
• Own foundational systems including shared components, build/deploy pipelines, observability, and performance infrastructure.
• Improve developer velocity by reducing friction and enabling faster, safer feature delivery.
• Set and maintain standards for latency, reliability, and quality across the platform.
• Partner with product engineering, infrastructure, and leadership to align platform investments with priorities.
• Create clarity and direction in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment as Claude.ai evolves.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of software engineering experience building platforms, developer tools, or infrastructure for consumer-facing products.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience managing and growing teams.
• Deep expertise in React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
• A track record of building tools and systems that improve other engineers’ productivity.
• Strong opinions on reliability, observability, and performance with ability to operationalize at scale.
• Ability to balance hands-on technical depth with strategic long-term direction-setting.
• Strong cross-functional communication and alignment-building with product, design, and infrastructure partners.

• Hybrid role with expectation to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
