Staff Software Engineer, Front-End

Overview

Staff Software Engineer, Front-End to build the Claude consumer web app, focusing on user-facing interfaces and product experiences.

What you'll do

• Set technical direction for the Claude product and its features.
• Build and ship user-facing features for Claude’s web and desktop experience.
• Own the quality bar for how the product looks and feels, including latency, responsiveness, and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers to understand user needs, shape feature scope, and make tradeoffs.
• Iterate based on user feedback and internal testing to continuously improve the experience.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience building consumer-facing web products with emphasis on UI quality and user experience.
• Proficiency in React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
• Experience with Node.js on the backend side of the stack.
• Care about user experience including load speed, reliability, and device consistency.
• Ability to think about latency and responsiveness.
• Comfort collaborating with designers and product managers to implement designs in the browser.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift.

Details

• Annual salary range: $320,000–$405,000 USD.
• Hybrid policy: at least 25% time in an office for staff.
