ESG Ratings Analyst

Overview

Join ISS STOXX's ESG Ratings research team in Mumbai to collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative environmental and social data from corporate disclosures, feeding ISS STOXX's ESG solutions including its Corporate Rating.

What you'll do

• Gather ESG data from company disclosures such as sustainability reports and annual reports.
• Review company documents such as sustainability reports, annual reports and corporate websites, and identify, analyse and process relevant qualitative and quantitative data in line with ISS ESG methodology.
• Evaluate company performance across ESG themes including working conditions, supply chain management, sustainability governance, environmental management, and emission and resource consumption.
• Track and monitor developments and trends in your industries of specialisation.
• Take ownership of production targets and deliver research within the timelines and quality standards in the processes.
• Coordinate with relevant internal stakeholders to complete production on time without compromising quality.
• Develop knowledge and expertise on ESG themes associated with corporate ratings.
• Support the rating team through thought leadership and research publications, methodology reviews, and ESG market development monitoring.
• Make suggestions based on domain expertise to evaluate new data sources.
• Act as a process expert on production, conduct tutoring, and deliver relevant training based on experience and expertise in specific industries.
• Participate in quality assurance procedures.
• Contribute to an engaging, positive and collaborative working environment, including through the management of other team members.

What you'll need

• Master's degree in a field such as international relations, development studies, environmental science, or international human rights.
• 0-2 years of relevant professional experience in a sustainability-related field, financial services, ESG research/sustainable finance/credit ratings, think tanks focused on sustainability, or academic research institutes.
• Excellent English language skills, both written and oral.
• Knowledge of, and proficiency with, Microsoft Office packages (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
• Integrity, organisational skills, attention to detail, a self-driven work ethic, and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
• Adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving environment and field.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to deadlines and balancing production volumes with high quality.
• Strong research and analytical skills, including planning and delivery, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence and quality control.
• Ability to quickly process large amounts of data and information.

Nice to have

• A degree in a field such as international relations, development studies, environmental science, or international human rights is desirable; knowledge of financial markets and sustainable finance is an advantage.
• An MBA with a sustainability concentration is desirable.
• Experience with sustainability topics or key sectors, with experience in data collection and business research, is an advantage.
