Overview
Administer and govern the enterprise Power BI platform while designing, developing, and supporting scalable business intelligence solutions, partnering with business, product, data, infrastructure, and security teams.
What you'll do
- Administer Power BI Service, including tenant settings, workspaces, applications, capacities, gateways, deployment pipelines, subscriptions, and platform access.
- Monitor Power BI capacity utilization, dataset refreshes, gateway health, report performance, audit activity, and service reliability; proactively identify and resolve platform issues.
- Define and implement governance standards for workspace creation, naming, ownership, lifecycle management, certified and promoted content, data classification, sharing, and retention.
- Design secure enterprise BI architectures using Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Azure data services, relational databases, APIs, and cloud data platforms.
- Design and develop executive dashboards, operational reports, paginated reports, semantic models, reusable datasets, dataflows, and self-service analytics solutions.
- Develop Power BI analytics and semantic models using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Dataverse data, including secure extraction, transformation, integration, and reporting across business applications.
- Develop advanced DAX measures, Power Query transformations, dimensional models, calculation groups, aggregations, incremental refresh, and performance-optimized reporting solutions.
- Implement and support Row-Level Security, Object-Level Security, Microsoft Entra ID group-based access, sensitivity labels, and least-privilege access controls.
- Architect and optimize Import, DirectQuery, Composite, and Direct Lake solutions based on data volume, latency, security, and performance requirements.
- Build and support backend data components such as SQL queries, views, stored procedures, data marts, ETL/ELT processes, APIs, and data validation frameworks.
- Partner with database, cloud, networking, security, and application teams to troubleshoot data connectivity, authentication, gateway, refresh, and performance issues.
- Establish source control, code review, automated testing, release management, and CI/CD practices using Git and Azure DevOps.
- Mentor Power BI developers, review solution designs, enforce development standards, and promote reusable architecture patterns and documentation.
- Support Microsoft Fabric evaluations and implementations using OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, notebooks, pipelines, semantic models, and Fabric capacity management.
- Communicate risks, dependencies, technical constraints, and remediation plans clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
