Firmware Validation Engineer

Overview

Firmware Validation Engineer focused on validating embedded automotive systems, including manual testing, test design, and test automation.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and execute test cases derived from system requirements using HIL test benches, lab cars, and manual vehicle testing.
• Perform system and integration testing across automotive subsystems for infotainment, telematics, cameras, sensors, and in-vehicle networking.
• Set up, configure, and maintain HIL test environments to validate system functionality and performance.
• Analyze test failures, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering teams to debug and resolve issues.
• Support OEM partner integration of OEM functions and communicate test results, risks, and issues.
• Develop and maintain Python-based test automation scripts and document test procedures, results, and findings.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of hands-on validation engineering experience in automotive, embedded systems, or electronics.
• Proficiency with HIL systems for validating automotive systems such as infotainment, ADAS, telematics, sensors, and networking.
• Experience coding in Python (preferred) or another coding language for test automation and script development.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to root cause and resolve failures.
• Ability to document test procedures, results, and progress, including issue tracking and failure analysis.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent major.

Nice to have

• Experience with low-power state/sleep current characterization, functional safety, and fault injection validation.
• Experience validating automotive network architectures and protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet, LIN, Flexray).
• Hands-on experience with tools like Vector CANoe and dSPACE ControlDesk.
• Experience with prototype bring-up, debugging, and validation in lab and vehicle environments.
• Familiarity with automotive test automation frameworks for developing robust automated tests.
