Systems/Software Engineer

Overview

Design, implement, and execute testing and quality assurance for HPE storage offerings, integrated solutions, and enterprise-grade cloud, storage, and networking technologies. The role focuses on customer-focused testing, product quality, automation, defect resolution, and leading testing activities across complex development projects.

What you'll do

• Champion customer-focused testing practices so the customer’s perspective influences product quality and decision-making.
• Design, implement, and execute robust test strategies for HPE storage offerings and integrated solutions.
• Gain expertise in external applications and validate integration feasibility with HPE storage products.
• Collaborate with Customer Engineering, Product Management, and Development teams to understand features and come up with quick completion for testing activities.
• Analyze test results, debug failures, and drive issues to closure across QA, product management, and support teams.
• Provide input to functional and design specifications and contribute to design documentation.
• Identify coverage gaps, raise defects, and shift testing upstream to influence product quality.
• Document test strategies, workflows, and results, and provide recommendations to engineering and leadership.
• Execute and lead project teams of testers, collaborating with internal and outsourced partners to deliver cost-effective, high-quality validation solutions.
• Represent the testing team in all phases of larger, complex development projects.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 5-8 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance.
• Expertise in storage protocols: FC, iSCSI, NFS, SMB, and S3.
• Hands-on experience with cloud, storage, and networking technologies, including Kubernetes and related ecosystems.
• Proficiency in virtualization platforms: VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM.
• Proficiency in enterprise backup solutions.
• Expertise in multiple software testing tools, frameworks, and languages.
• Advanced scripting skills in Python and Shell for automation and efficiency.
• Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems for multi-platform validation.
• Experience with industry-standard tools, including JIRA, test management platforms, and S3 IO writing tools.
• Experience with analytics and AI application simulation and workload generation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to defect detection and resolution.
• Experience testing software systems across multiple platform types.
• Proficiency in software testing methodologies, including test plan design, execution, debugging, and automation scripting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Mastery in English and the local language.
• Ability to communicate test strategies and defect reports effectively and negotiate quality standards at management levels.
• Experience leveraging AI tools, such as Copilot and ChatGPT, to enhance productivity and testing workflows.
• Curiosity and adaptability to explore emerging technologies and apply them to enterprise-grade solutions.
