Overview
A Forward Deployed Engineer works cross-functionally to stand up product value on customer data, prototype near-production solutions with AI when needed, and drive technical outcomes from discovery through production adoption.
What you'll do
- Partner with Sales and Product to deliver fast, deal-time prototypes that test value on customer timelines.
- Own discovery, technical scoping, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, adoption, and handoff for strategic solutions.
- Deploy solutions and measure adoption, workflow impact, reliability, and time-to-value using customer data.
- Engineer production use systems for security, reliability, observability, maintainability, and integration with customer architecture.
- Develop and continuously update solution specifications based on customer inputs and evolving outcomes.
- Coordinate field-observed customer needs, patterns, and roadmap/vision inputs with Product and R&D.
What you'll need
- Ability to run technical discovery and hold value conversations with technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience generalizing solutions into reusable accelerators for future engagements.
- LLM application development skills including RAG, prompt/context engineering, and agent orchestration.
- Familiarity with enterprise integrations and systems such as ESRI ArcGIS/Smallworld, IBM Maximo/EAM, SAP/Oracle ERP/PPM, and PowerBI/reporting.
- Knowledge of REST and streaming APIs, authentication patterns, and enterprise system-of-record integrations.
- Production engineering depth including observability, performance, and operating at scale; strong debugging with imperfect customer data.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed, up to ~50%.
- Fluency in Angular, Python, or a similar language.
- Understanding of SQL, data modeling, and building ingestion/transformation/serving pipelines.
