Furnace Engineer

Overview

Senior/Principal Furnace Engineer responsible for structural design and detailing of furnace and heater systems, including associated components, ducting, stacks and furnace modules.

What you'll do

• Design and detail furnace structures and associated structural components.
• Review fabrication, detailing and erection drawings for design compliance and constructability.
• Coordinate with detail engineering contractors, fabricators and multidisciplinary teams.
• Resolve structural engineering issues arising during fabrication and site erection.
• Provide structural engineering support during procurement, fabrication and site erection.
• Review vendor and fabricator documents requiring structural engineering input.
• Perform lifting and sea/road transportation analysis for large furnace modules and components.

What you'll need

• Approximately 10–15 years of furnace structural design experience.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
• Proficiency in STAAD.Pro for structural modelling, analysis and design.
• Knowledge of fired heater, reformer and cracker structural systems.
• Working knowledge of ASCE, UBC, AISC, Eurocodes and IS Codes.
• Knowledge of API 560, API 530 and ASME STS-1.

Nice to have

• Experience with ammonia or hydrogen reformers, cracking furnaces and waste heat recovery systems.
• Experience on international or global projects with multi-location engineering teams.
• Experience coordinating technically with engineering vendors and fabricators.
