Gas Turbine Engineer (Automation)

Overview

Gas Turbine Engineer (Automation) in ABB’s Process Automation business (Energy Industries), based in Bangalore, with a hybrid work model.

Acts as a design authority for control architecture and automation engineering for gas turbine and combined-cycle plants.

What you'll do

• Develop scalable, high-performance control architectures for gas turbine and combined-cycle plants.
• Validate control system performance across startup, load changes, and grid disturbances.
• Lead Mark V to ABB control system migration, including I/O mapping and logic conversion.
• Oversee integration with electrical systems, instrumentation, and the plant DCS.
• Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning at international sites.
• Ensure work compliance with IEC, IEEE, NFPA, and local grid codes.
• Integrate predictive analytics, remote monitoring, and AI-driven diagnostics into control solutions.

What you'll need

• At least 8–12 years’ experience in power plant automation for gas turbine control.
• Experience with GE Mark V and ABB Symphony Plus (highly desirable).
• Proficiency in control logic design, PLC/DCS programming, and HMI development.
• Hands-on experience with relevant communication protocols including Modbus, OPC, and IEC 61850.
• Proven success delivering retrofit or upgrade projects for turbine control systems.
• Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to solve complex integration problems and drive change across global initiatives.
