Overview
Lead Process Control Engineer to oversee and optimize process control systems, ensuring operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
What you'll do
- Develop process controls documentation such as control narrative/philosophy, operation sequence charts, and controls logic/cause & effect.
- Lead and manage projects from concept through commissioning.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced process control engineers.
- Support training initiatives for process control team capabilities.
- Participate in project kickoff, design review, HAZOP, and SIL meetings and provide process controls input.
- Conduct controls design reviews and troubleshoot control system issues to minimize downtime during commissioning.
- Coordinate with programmer and controls validation/testing engineers for controls implementation.
What you'll need
- 7-10 years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining process control documents.
- Proficiency with PLC, HMI/SCADA, and DCS systems (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Wonderware).
- Understanding of P&IDs, PFDs, instrument & IO lists, and process controls/electrical design concepts.
- Knowledge of process automation and control loop tuning (PID control).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for liaising, reporting, documentation, and presentations.
- Ability to follow procedures and standards (company standards and ISO) and extrapolate from them.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in the water industry.
- Process industry commissioning experience.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
- Certification in process control or automation (e.g., ISA, Rockwell/Siemens).
