Project Engineer - Process Power Manager

Overview

Project Engineer (Process Power Manager) for ABB’s Process Automation business in the Energy Industries division.

What you'll do

• Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures for engineering assignments.
• Handle testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Prepare project documentation within scope of deliverables.
• Support proposal/presentation preparation including bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.
• Support contract manager change management, including scope, cost, time, and risk quantifications.
• Create work plans and cost estimates; review and approve scope, budget, and schedule and ensure on-time quality.

What you'll need

• Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in engineering and commissioning of Power Management Systems.
• Experience with power management functionalities including primary equipment monitoring/control, load shedding, load sharing, and synchronization.
• Hands-on experience designing substation network architecture and control philosophy for process/power plants.
• Working knowledge of utility communication protocols including IEC 61850, OPC, Modbus, DNP3, IEC 101/104, TCP/IP, and Profinet/Fieldbus-related items.
• Hands-on experience with application engineering tools for DCS.
• Hands-on experience configuring controllers, protocol gateways, and data concentrators across communication protocols.
• Bachelor’s degree (4 years) or equivalent experience; willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 70% and a valid international passport.
