Hardware Engineering Technical Leader – Board Design, PCB – 10 to 15 years

Overview

Hardware Engineering Technical Leader in Cisco's Network Hardware Engineering (NHE) team, responsible for board and system design, PCB layout, and leading cross-functional hardware development for switching, routing, wireless and industrial products.

What you'll do

• Lead cross-functional development efforts to create solutions aligned to requirements and customer needs.
• Facilitate communication and creative problem-solving to identify root causes of customer and development issues, categorize failures, and implement corrective measures.
• Engage with signal integrity, diagnostics engineers, customer escalation engineers and external vendors across development activities including system/board design, PCB layout, hardware automation, performance characterization and power analysis.
• Collaborate with external vendors, ensuring suitability and performance of high-performance components and alignment to project specifications.
• Leverage effective communication schemes to ensure team and leadership alignment.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 10 years of experience, or Master's in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 6 years of related experience, or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 3 years of related experience.
• Hands-on experience with board or system design, schematic and PCB review, prototype bring-up, testing, and hardware debug.
• Familiarity with relevant technologies such as Ethernet, PHYs, Switch ASIC operation, and high-speed interfaces.

Nice to have

• Manage vendor relationships, ensuring suitability and performance of high-quality components and alignment to project specifications.
• Ability to work with firmware, software, signal integrity, manufacturing, and test teams to resolve technical issues and deliver products.
• Experience taking hardware from requirements and design through qualification, manufacturing, and production support.
