Incident Response Manager - Product & Engineering

Overview

Build and run Anthropic’s incident response program for high-volume, high-stakes incidents across teams, acting as incident commander and communications lead.

What you'll do

• Build incident response processes, tooling, and operational standards for incident handling at scale.
• Serve as on-call incident commander, coordinating response across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Engage the right people at the right time and drive order and direction during fast-moving, ambiguous situations.
• Own incident communications end-to-end, including internal coordination and external channels like status pages and customer outreach.
• Run blameless incident reviews and drive follow-through on critical remediations.
• Partner with engineering and other teams to improve incident detection, response, and learning.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in incident management.
• Direct experience managing technical product or infrastructure incidents.
• Experience building or significantly shaping an incident response program.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, including with communications and legal teams.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure incidents and technical depth across the stack to engage engineering.
• Analytical mindset with experience using data (e.g., incident metrics and trend analysis) during incidents.
• Clear, calm communication under pressure in real time and post-incident writing.

• Hybrid location policy: expected to be in one of the company offices at least 25% of the time.
