Overview

Synechron is seeking an Infrastructure Automation Engineer to implement and maintain automation solutions for infrastructure certification, plant management, and infrastructure-on-demand services. The role works with Python, Ansible, infrastructure APIs, F5 load balancers, networking protocols, Linux-based environments, and lab-based testing.

What you'll do

  • Implement automation for certification and plant management using Python and Ansible.
  • Automate infrastructure installation, configuration, provisioning, management, and validation tasks.
  • Extend and integrate APIs to provide infrastructure-on-demand capabilities.
  • Design, develop, test, document, and maintain automation workflows and reusable components.
  • Perform and automate lab-based testing for new hardware and software certification.
  • Configure, manage, integrate, and troubleshoot F5 LTM and GTM load balancers.
  • Use TMSH, iControl, and iRules for F5 configuration, automation, integration, and operational requirements.
  • Apply TCP/IP, BGP, HTTP, SSL, and other networking concepts when designing and troubleshooting solutions.
  • Work with distributed web applications and their infrastructure for availability, performance, scalability, and connectivity.
  • Use Linux command-line tools for configuration, automation, testing, monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Communicate with internal clients and stakeholders to identify requirements and translate them into secure, scalable, supportable, and maintainable infrastructure solutions.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, software, testing, security, and operations teams.
  • Investigate failures, resolve defects, improve automation reliability, and document technical findings.
  • Ensure certification tests are repeatable, traceable, and aligned with defined requirements.
  • Evaluate technologies and recommend improvements to automation, testing, deployment, and service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain Python and Ansible automation for certification, plant management, installation, configuration, provisioning, and infrastructure-on-demand services.
  • Review certification results, investigate failures, and document technical findings and delivery status.
  • Clarify requirements, recommend solution designs, prioritize work, and make technical decisions within agreed architecture and governance boundaries.

What you'll need

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure automation, network automation, systems engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience automating infrastructure installation, configuration, certification, or management using Ansible, Python, shell, or another scripting/programming language.
  • Expertise with F5 LTM and GTM load-balancer configuration and APIs, including TMSH, iControl, and iRules.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, HTTP, SSL, and networking concepts across relevant layers.
  • Experience with distributed web applications and their underlying infrastructure.
  • Practical experience working with Linux-based command-line environments.
  • Experience extending and integrating APIs for infrastructure-on-demand services.
  • Experience performing or automating lab-based testing for new hardware and software certification.
  • Hands-on Python experience automating infrastructure installation, configuration, management, certification, and testing.
  • Practical Ansible experience developing and maintaining playbooks, roles, automation workflows, and infrastructure configuration processes.
  • Experience using shell or other scripting/programming languages to automate repetitive infrastructure tasks.
  • Experience working with the Python, Ansible, Linux, F5, networking, API, automation, and testing tool versions used by the assigned project, including assessing compatibility and upgrade considerations.
  • Ability to write maintainable, reusable, testable, and well-documented automation code.
  • Ability to troubleshoot scripts, automation workflows, API interactions, and infrastructure-related failures.
  • Understanding of configuration data, infrastructure inventory, service metadata, test results, and certification records.
  • Ability to manage, validate, and document data used by automation workflows and infrastructure APIs.
  • Experience with structured configuration files and data exchanged through APIs.
  • Understanding of infrastructure-on-demand concepts and automated provisioning.
  • Ability to apply infrastructure automation principles in distributed or cloud-enabled environments.
  • Understanding of scalability, availability, networking, configuration, and operational requirements for infrastructure services.
  • Experience with Ansible playbooks, roles, modules, variables, templates, inventories, and automation workflows.
  • Ability to build reusable automation components for infrastructure management and certification.
  • Understanding of software version control, deployment, build tools, and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Ability to document automation processes, configuration requirements, test results, dependencies, and operational procedures.
  • Experience troubleshooting automation failures, infrastructure issues, networking problems, and API errors.
  • Ability to work with Linux-based command-line tools and operational processes.
  • Strong understanding of SSL and its role in secure network communication.
  • Awareness of authentication, authorization, access control, secure API integration, and protection of infrastructure credentials.
