Job description

Overview

Design, develop, deploy, and support Azure cloud architecture for Azure Platform Services within Caterpillar's IT Division, including Azure China/21Vianet and Commercial clouds.

What you'll do

  • Architect and design applications that run on Azure China/21Vianet and Commercial clouds by providing technical expertise and guidance in cloud technologies.
  • Work with GCIO teams to champion available Azure services and how they can enable the business to run more efficiently in Azure.
  • Lead migrations from on-premise deployments to the Azure cloud environment.
  • Work with Principal Architects and IT teams to develop roadmaps for Azure cloud services.
  • Work with the IT Security team on analysis and security architecture for major initiatives.
  • Establish, design, and support an enterprise cloud architecture with other IT teams that provides required capacity plans and supports long-term strategic goals for enterprise cloud technologies.
  • Lead and perform development, automation, and deployment assignments without close supervision.
  • Complete technical evaluations of Azure cloud services for general onboarding, including aligning service capabilities to business requirements, reference architecture designs, and controls to securely deploy solutions.
  • Assist with documentation, training, and usability efforts.
  • Manage application-related issues, implications, and approaches with clients.
  • Evaluate interfaces and interdependencies among core application systems.
  • Explain features and benefits of core applications for consideration by business units.
  • Implement existing and planned application enhancements in major business units.
  • Track data flow between own applications and core applications in other business areas.
  • Plan enhancement, conversion, and retirement strategies for core applications.
  • Determine root causes of organizational problems and create alternative solutions.
  • Provide technical solutions to functional challenges and help resolve technical or procedural problems.
  • Convert market requirements into software product designs and facilitate design reviews and walkthroughs.
  • Create and customize cloud application modernization plans based on business requirements.
  • Consult on security issues regarding application migration and lead discussions on cloud-native application challenges and risks.
  • Develop and modify enterprise architecture through conceptual, logical, and physical approaches.
  • Gather business requirements, document assessment practices, and participate in business, risk, and benefits assessments.
  • Assist with integration initiatives involving applications, data, technology bridges, databases, and platforms.

What you'll need

  • Strong IT infrastructure and/or software development experience, especially in networking, application services, and distributed computing.
  • Technical leadership or lead developer experience.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud architecture, systems design, application design, and development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience automating infrastructure or application deployments using PowerShell, Python, Java, NodeJS, .NET, JSON, or YAML.
  • Strong English communication, teamwork, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.

Nice to have

  • Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-305, AZ-500, AZ-104, AZ-900, AZ-204, or AZ-400.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipeline tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with the Azure Portal, CLI, PowerShell cmdlets, and/or REST APIs.
  • Experience using the Agile methodology.
  • Experience designing and/or building Azure solutions including web-based UI or API applications, IoT solutions, data pipelines, or machine learning/AI capabilities.
  • Experience working with corporate security on infrastructure or application security compliance and remediation activities, such as Risk Acceptance and Security Configuration Baseline.

  • Location: Bangalore, Karnataka.
  • Work onsite in the office five days a week.
