IT Business Analyst/Functional Analyst - Real Estate Funds Platform, AVP

Overview

The IT Business Analyst/Functional Analyst will support DWS Global Technology's Alternatives team, initially focused on Real Estate Equity products. The role captures and documents requirements, translates them into functional specifications, analyzes change impacts, supports implementation, and produces business-facing documentation.

What you'll do

• Work with front office and middle office teams to define upcoming business challenges and determine required technology solutions.
• Develop and maintain standard project artifacts, including business requirements documents, test cases, and project plans.
• Work with onshore, offshore, and third-party IT developers to translate business requirements into functional specifications.
• Analyze large data sets, process flows, and reporting flows.
• Analyze and document current-state system flows and processes to bring transparency to system and data complexity and interdependence.
• Work with development teams and architects to design and implement technology solutions with a high level of quality, flexibility, and scalability.
• Perform system integration testing.
• Coordinate end-user testing and plan rollout.
• Work with the business to establish priorities and provide regular status updates.
• Perform root cause analysis on production issues and provide recommendations to mitigate risk and preventive actions.
• Capture and document the full range of requirements.
• Analyze the impact of changes and support the business throughout the implementation process.
• Produce business-facing documentation such as user manuals and solution briefs.
• Drive business-led initiatives aimed at increasing productivity and adding value to the business.

What you'll need

• Minimum 10 years of Business Analysis experience.
• 5+ years' experience working within the Asset Management business.
• Strong understanding of Real Estate Markets and operational processes.
• Experience implementing process changes.
• Understanding of the Asset Management business.
• 5+ years' expertise in Asset Management, Portfolio Management and/or Fund Finance systems.
• Ability to use tools to create project artifacts such as business requirements, process maps, functional specifications, and testing scripts.
• Advanced skills in MS applications.
• Strong data analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Data and technical architecture experience.
• Ability to work with large data sets, process flows, and reporting flows.
• Working knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
• Ability to partner with various front and middle office teams and development teams to achieve objectives and execute or drive the project plan as required.
• Demonstrated success with typical Business Analyst deliverables: business requirements, functional specifications, system/workflow diagrams, and functional test plan documentation and execution.
• Inquisitive nature and ability to ask pertinent questions that tease out issues and drive the analysis forward.
• Ability to self-start and learn the nuances of the business.
• Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to pick up new products and technical knowledge quickly.
• Ability to quickly learn new and complex processes.
• Ability to set own targets and timelines and manage delivery expectations with users.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or Economics.
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.

Nice to have

• Experience within Asset Management, with knowledge of Real Estate Fund Finance platforms or Private Credit Business.
