Job description

Overview

Lead IT finance and planning for Solventum's technology portfolio, partnering with IT and business leaders on financial transparency, investment decisions and operational effectiveness.

What you'll do

  • Lead the IT annual operating plan, budget, forecast and long-range planning cycles by coordinating inputs across IT functions, challenging assumptions, and providing significant input to departmental budget decisions so plans align with strategic roadmaps and investment priorities.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for IT financial management, advising IT leadership on investment trade-offs, business cases, total cost of ownership, ROI, funding alternatives, and capital vs. operating expense treatment for technology initiatives and transformation programs.
  • Solve complex, multi-faceted financial problems across the IT portfolio by analyzing spending trends, cost drivers, variances, and forecast risks, evaluating options, and recommending corrective actions and optimization opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional financial initiatives without direct people-management responsibility, covering benefits realization, vendor and contract financials, accruals, consumption analysis, and portfolio financial governance, working with Finance, Procurement, and program leaders to deliver on time and within approved budgets.
  • Advise IT leaders with executive-ready financial insight, including scenario analyses, monthly performance reviews, and decision-support materials for prioritization and resource allocation, raising difficult issues with management and stakeholders and getting decisions made.
  • Advance IT financial management capability by leading improvements to planning processes, controls, reporting and automation, and by coaching program and project managers across multiple teams on financial planning, forecasting discipline, and compliance with corporate financial policy and audit requirements.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related discipline AND 8+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, portfolio financial management, or related finance roles supporting complex technology or business organizations.
  • Recognized expertise in IT or technology finance, including annual planning, forecasting, financial modeling, scenario analysis, variance analysis, investment evaluation, and capital vs. operating expense management.
  • Demonstrated results leading complex financial planning cycles or cross-functional financial initiatives, including multiple or integrated plans across IT portfolios, transformation programs, or enterprise investments.
  • Experience advising senior leaders on investment and funding decisions, with a track record of recommendations that changed prioritization, spend, or resource allocation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Workday, or equivalent), and financial planning and reporting tools, with the ability to turn complex financial data into executive-ready insight.
  • Strong influence, negotiation, and communication skills, including handling differing interests across Finance, IT, Procurement, and business leadership and driving action without direct authority.

Nice to have

  • MBA, CPA, CMA, CFA, or similar professional qualification.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, or similar analytics and planning tools.
  • Knowledge of IT portfolio management, project accounting, resource planning, and benefits realization frameworks.
  • Experience supporting large-scale ERP, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or digital transformation programs from a financial perspective.
  • Understanding of software licensing economics, vendor financial governance, and contract financial management.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring finance or program colleagues across multiple teams in a global, matrixed organization.
