Java Developer

Overview

Senior Java Backend Developer responsible for solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices, maintaining the partnership between business needs and technology delivery, contributing to an Agile team codebase, and delivering sprint-level commitments.

What you'll do

• Contribute code as a leader of an Agile team to deliver sprint goals.
• Design, document, and develop enterprise applications using the latest technologies and design patterns.
• Provide strategic influence and exercise control over team resources, budget management, and planning while monitoring end results.
• Use in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within your area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.
• Integrate in-depth applications development knowledge with the overall technology function to achieve established goals.
• Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations, including drawing from internal and external sources.
• Assess risk in business decisions, considering the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
• Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; adhere to policy; and apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices.
• Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.
• Supervise the activity of others and create accountability for those who fail to maintain required standards.

What you'll need

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer/Developer using Java, Springboot, Kafka, Mogo, SQL, and related technologies.
• Multiple years of experience with software engineering best practices, including unit testing, automation, design patterns, and peer review.
• Clear understanding of Data Structures and Object Oriented Principles using Java.
• Multiple years of experience developing and building horizontally scalable, highly available, highly resilient, and low latency applications.
• Proficient experience with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Kafka messaging, and Hibernate.
• Exposure to Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, either on-premise or public cloud.
• Multiple years of experience with agile and iterative software delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cloud-native development and Container Orchestration tools such as Serverless, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
• Hands-on experience with Java 8.x+, Springboot, Kafka, JPA, and SQL/Oracle.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure in both on-premise and public cloud environments, including OpenShift and AWS.
• Exposure to event-driven design and architecture, including Kafka.
• Exposure to API Management tools.
• Exposure to Security, Observability, and Monitoring tools, including Grafana Prometheus, Splunk, ELK, and CloudWatch.
• Exposure to database concepts including RDBMS and NoSQL, and web-based technologies including Angular/React.
