Java Developer - Assistant Vice President

Overview

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of secure, scalable backend applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot. The role includes stakeholder collaboration, technical governance, mentoring, and operational improvement.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy Java and Spring Boot backend applications.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs.
• Develop Python and Flask prototypes, automation tools, or services.
• Define functional specifications, project plans, and release schedules.
• Collaborate with business and engineering teams on requirements and architectures.
• Support security, audit, regulatory, and risk management processes.
• Mentor junior team members and improve automation, processes, and CI/CD practices.

What you'll need

• 7–12 years of experience in software engineering.
• Hands-on Java backend development experience, including Java 17+.
• Expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases, data modeling, Hibernate/JPA, and SQL optimization.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle, Git, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Experience in financial services or a large, complex, or global enterprise environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, prioritization, and ownership skills.

Nice to have

• Python and Flask experience.
• Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and CI/CD experience.
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP and AWS SNS.
