Java Developer (Spring Boot, Kafka, AWS, Microservices) – 5+ Yrs

Overview

Software Engineer role on the Apex team at Global Payments, focused on designing and building scalable, event-driven distributed systems and leading engineering practices across the team.

What you'll do

• Design and build highly scalable, loosely coupled, event-driven, distributed systems.
• Build systems using Kafka on premise or in the cloud.
• Lead by example across all functions of the team, including agile process adoption, software development, testing, TDD/BDD, DevOps and cloud.
• Guide the team on adoption of Agile process and practices.
• Foster an engineering mindset within the team.
• Drive cloud (AWS) adoption.
• Drive adoption of DevOps best practices, tools and technologies.

What you'll need

• Currently 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Java 8/11/17 development with technologies such as Spring, Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
• Expertise in Java.
• Experience with a messaging service, preferably Kafka.
• Experience delivering products/services in the cloud, AWS or Azure.
• Demonstrated accountability for a production service, having contributed to that service build.
• Experience leading change in technical teams.
• Great communication skills, written and verbal.
• Knowledge of architecture and design patterns.
• Knowledge of current technology architectures and approaches such as Event Driven Design, Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing and CQRS.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of BDD/TDD practices, and experience working with these approaches in the past.
• Knowledge of DevOps best practices and technologies (Docker) and tools (Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform), and experience working with these in the past.
