Overview
Join the Cash Portfolio Management team under Investment Technology Services in State Street Investment Management to develop next generation Cash portfolio construction applications and support modernization, including cloud migration.
What you'll do
- Design, develop and maintain Cash application components, ensuring reliability, performance and maintainability for future scalability and growth.
- Develop hands-on using Java and Spring framework technologies and apply ReactJs and SQL concepts.
- Lead problem-solving efforts for complex technical challenges across major project phases.
- Direct resolution of advanced design, performance and integration issues.
- Own the end-to-end delivery of functional and non-functional features in the system.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Technical Architects and internal teams to translate complex requirements into high-quality, low-latency and sustainable software solutions.
- Develop, test and implement production-grade software using Java, cloud-native technologies, Reactjs and emerging capabilities such as GenAI.
- Provide technical guidance through code and design reviews, critically analyzing proposed changes for alignment with architectural standards and performance expectations.
- Write and review unit, integration and automated tests focused on performance, resilience and maintainability.
- Improve testing practices and frameworks by strengthening automation, coverage and development efficiency.
- Contribute to and help lead the agile delivery process, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement and retrospectives.
- Promote continuous improvement in engineering practices.
What you'll need
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Deep expertise in object-oriented design, design patterns, SOLID principles and industry best practices.
- Strong proficiency in Java, with experience building scalable, high-performance, multi-tier applications.
- Proven experience designing, building and deploying distributed systems and scalable microservices.
- Experience with Spring Boot application.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures on AWS.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.
- Front-end development experience using modern web technologies, including React, Node.js, HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript and JSON.
- Good knowledge in relational (SQL/RDBMS) data stores.
- Strong understanding of and experience across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from design through deployment and production support.
- Ability to analyze complex business and technical problems and lead the design and delivery of robust, high-performance software solutions.
- Demonstrated understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI concepts, with the ability to practically apply AI-enabled tools (e.g., Copilot or similar) to improve productivity, decision-making and delivery outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product and business teams.
- A positive, proactive and can-do attitude.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the financial services domain, including front office applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
