Java Senior Software Engineer

Overview

Lead development and testing of a scalable, geo-distributed database solution using Java. Manage Software Engineers while contributing to distributed systems, replication, sharding, concurrency, and performance optimization.

What you'll do

• Ensure database scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Define, design, and ship features with cross-functional teams.
• Troubleshoot complex issues in distributed environments.
• Profile, debug, and tune performance using JFR, JMC, async-profiler, and VisualVM.
• Develop data structures for data-intensive access scenarios.
• Implement disk-storage, network-transfer, failure-handling, and recovery mechanisms.
• Implement and integrate high-availability algorithms for the cluster.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of Java programming experience.
• Deep knowledge of Java concurrency and the Java Memory Model or other concurrency models.
• Excellent Java SE knowledge, including IO and JVM internals.
• Experience with SQL databases and troubleshooting Java applications or databases.
• Knowledge of SQL databases such as MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache Ignite, or GridGain.
• Leadership, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Understanding of distributed-systems concepts including Raft, MVCC, ACID, P2PL, Snapshot Isolation, and REPEATABLE READ.

Nice to have

• Experience with NoSQL or distributed databases.
• Experience building high-load distributed systems and algorithms.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or public cloud platforms.
• Open-source contributions, automation expertise, or performance/load-testing experience.
• Active use of AI.
