Junior Software Developer (Contract)

Overview

Junior Software Developer (Contract) focused on cross-platform tooling across Linux and Windows (WSL2). You’ll build and improve backend/CLI tools, data handling, CI/CD automation, and developer experience.

What you'll do

• Write, maintain, and optimize backend code and command-line interfaces (CLIs) using Python and C++.
• Refactor legacy scripts to run on Windows (WSL2) and Linux by removing hardcoded OS dependencies.
• Work with JSON, XML, and YAML to standardize data interoperability between simulation tools.
• Develop automated validation scripts (“linters”) for Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
• Improve developer experience by handling exceptions and producing clear error messages and “fix hints”.
• Write unit tests and help run automated stress tests for installation and performance.

What you'll need

• Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field; recent graduates or 1–2 years of experience.
• Strong foundational skills in Python and/or C++.
• Comfort working with both Linux and Windows command-line environments.
• Familiarity with Git and basic CI/CD concepts.
• Basic knowledge of configuration files and data structures (YAML, JSON).
• Familiarity with Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).
