Lead Application Engineer

Overview

Lead Application Engineer contributing to power systems and power electronics consulting projects, including renewable generation, energy storage, HVDC and FACTS. The role supports customers through technical analysis, engineering studies, simulation, and reporting.

What you'll do

• Perform power electronics and power systems control analyses.
• Support customers with modeling, analysis, equipment design and specification, and failure mode analysis.
• Create and parameterize electrical equipment simulation models.
• Perform power system planning, renewable integration, feasibility, and energy storage studies.
• Conduct grid code compliance studies and field testing.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations describing analyses and solutions.
• Present technical content in regional forums and conferences.

What you'll need

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering or electric power engineering.
• At least 5 years of industry experience with transient or steady-state and dynamic analysis.
• Experience using power system simulation tools such as ATP/EMTP, PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP-RV, PSS/E, PowerFactory, or PSLF.
• At least 2 years of experience using programming languages such as Python, FORTRAN, C, C++, or MATLAB.
• Knowledge of grid code compliance requirements for generation interconnection.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or a related field.
• Experience creating dynamic user models in power system simulation tools.
• Knowledge of grid codes in Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
• Experience automating simulations using MATLAB or Python.
• Published IEEE/CIGRE articles or participation in industry standards working groups.
